    Creating Systems for Improvement

With over 85 percent of students in poverty, Arizona Charter Academy (ACA) believes that zip code should not define the quality of education. That’s why in 2011, ACA committed to improving the quality of education they were providing to their students. The Center worked with ACA to develop a comprehensive school improvement strategy that included strategic planning, performance management, professional development and coaching. ACA’s aggressive efforts to implement their plan along with a focus on data-driven decision making led to their rise from a “D” to an “A” in just three years.

    Partnering with 'A' Schools

Mission Montessori Charter School, which has always been A-rated, partnered with the Center for Student Achievement's Quality Schools Program to provide additional support for its leaders and teachers. School leader JoDene Tyron said of the program, "In the 15 years of our existence, this is the best program that we have had the opportunity to present to our teachers. I know that if every school could participate in the Quality School Program that all charter schools would be an "A" rated school."
