MICHAELA CLAUSSEN, M.ED
Michaela brings a background in classroom teaching and a passion for data-driven instruction to her role as a Trainer and Coach for the Center for Student Achievement. Michaela’s first step into education was teaching 7th-grade writing and social studies in the Glendale Elementary School District through Teach for America. Originally from Nebraska, Michaela thought her move to Phoenix and 7th-grade teaching assignment would be a short two-year pit stop, but she quickly fell in love with teaching and has made Phoenix her home! While teaching in Glendale, Michaela earned her M. Ed. in Secondary Education at Arizona State University and then went on to spend four years teaching 5th & 6th grade Life Skills at Arizona School for the Arts, where she also served as the 6th-grade team leader. Michaela has her B.A. in International Studies and Spanish from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, so of course, she is a loyal Husker football fan. Michaela seems to have a new hobby every month, but as a former piano teacher and fitness instructor, she consistently enjoys practicing classical piano music and attempting the newest workout she can find in the Valley. She loves working for the Center and helping support teachers and school leaders in their efforts to improve student achievement.
